NASA Posts Photographs of Saturn’s Rings in the Highest Resolution Ever
The photographs were taken from the distance of 1.2 billion kilometers from the surface of the Earth.
NASA released photographs of Saturn’s rings taken in the highest resolution ever, PetaPixel writes. The photographs were taken by Cassini spacecraft at the distance of 1.2 billion kilometers from the surface of the Earth.
According to the scientists, the photographs will help them study the characteristics of the rings — in the earlier images, it was impossible to discern many of the details.
“These close views represent the opening of an entirely new window onto Saturn’s rings, and over the next few months we look forward to even more exciting data as we train our cameras on other parts of the rings closer to the planet,” the scientists say.
