In two years of traveling Shreya Katuri has assembled a collection of more than 100 matchboxes.
Shreya Katuri, a market researcher from India, posts photos of matchboxes taken when traveling on her Instagram account @artonabox, Mashable writes. In two years the author has assembled a collection of more than 100 matchboxes from different Indian cities and other countries, such as Ukraine or the UK.
“They’re almost omnipresent, you can’t ignore them, — the author of the project says. — They reveal a lot and I don’t see them as being just boxes. I’ve come to realise that every symbol has a deeper meaning — they tell stories of aspiration, everyday objects, and certain ideals in our society”.
