Tourist Smashes an 18th Century Statue When Taking a Selfie
According to the museum officials, it cannot be restored.
Brazilian tourist whose name is not specified smashed a 18th century statue when trying to take a selfie at the National Museum of Ancient Art in Lisbon. According to The Daily Mail, he accidentally knocked it over when taking a step back.
The statue broke into several pieces; the museum officials say that it cannot be restored. “I’ve been working in the museum for many years and cannot recall anything similar happening,” Jose Alberto Seabra Carvalho, a deputy director of the museum, said.
Nuno Miguel Rodrigues who witnessed the accident posted the photos of a broken statue on Facebook and wrote: “It’s the price to be paid for free entrances on the first Sunday of every month.”
