Color Photos of Paris, Taken 100 Years Ago

The photographs for the project were taken by four photographers commissioned by banker Albert Khan.

Open Culture posted a selection of photographs of Paris 100 years ago, which capture the French capital in color.

All posted pictures were taken between 1914 and 1918 and commissioned by the French banker Albert Khan: he asked four photographers (Leon Gimpel, Stefan Passe, Georges Chevalier and Auguste Leon) to take part in the project and paid their trips around several cities, one of them being Paris.
